About this Artwork
Yandell Walton’s Cargo 08 is a site-specific projection installation, housed in a cargo container and series of photographic prints. The project was funded by Melbourne City Council and created with fashion Photographer Luzena Adams, Andi Coventon (make-up), Eva Podsiadlowski (stylist) and Teilhard Kearney (sound) for the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Cargo 08 comments on aspects associated with the fashion industry including conformative global fashion trends, consumerism and an idealised beauty. The ‘packed and ready to be shipped’ three-dimensional figures move in a mechanical motion, both delighting and confronting the viewers.
